Dave and Jolene stopped by for dinner Monday night. We also took in Emma's softball game and saw her demonstrate some slick fielding. After the kids were put to bed, we enjoyed pie and discussed the most crucial topics of the day, including brain surgery and David Hasselhoff.

More Yosemite...

The bottom pic is a waterfall that we hiked to in Yosemite. The kids are wearing ponchos because we took the "mist trail" which winds up alongside the waterfall and SOAKS all hikers, literally to the skin. The top pic is a view from higher up the mountain looking back down at the spot where the earlier pic was taken. We decided to take the more dry route home. All in all we hiked around 5 miles. Super kids!
Wow! Yosemite is cool!

Country Fair, here we come...

Here's the thing about growing zucchini in warm Southern California. If you pick them at the right time, they are rather tasty. If you wait two days too long (like this one), you end up with a zucchini that is roughly the size of a bowling pin. Still good for my wife's delicious zucchini bread, but bad for just eatin'.

Our Kids

Emma sang in an inter-church choir of 1st through 8th graders called "Our Kids". (She is sort of in the middle of the bottom picture) They rehearsed for several months and did two performances last weekend. Lots of fun. They did a musical adaptation of David and Goliath. The top picture is Emma and her buddy Bryce.
Quote
Here is a great quote from Donald Miller in the book "Blue Like Jazz."
I believe the greatest trick of the devil is not to get us into some sort of evil but rather have us wasting time. This is why the devil tries so hard to get Christians to be religious. If he can sink a man's mind into habit, he will prevent his heart from engaging God.
