Decor

Behold the new tree. It's fake, but very authentic-looking. We purchased it on clearance last year, so this was the maiden voyage. Yes, it is rather tall...9 feet in fact. We're busy decorating the house. Meg pitched in by setting up the Little People Nativity Set. She made sure to set it up EXACTLY like the box cover.

Hot Dogs

No picture here...just non-profound pontificating. On Saturday we are having a Service Day sponsored by Bethany. Laura is working the SAT, so the kids and I are going with a group to a local park where we will cook hot dogs and hand them out to whoever is there...just 'cause. It occurred to me as I was buying 300 hot dogs and 300 hot dog buns at Costco that the disciples must have had a ton of work collecting those 12 baskets of leftover food. 300 buns takes up a lot of space.

Let's go fly a kite...

After visiting the Wayfarer's Chapel, we headed down the coast to Angels Gate Park for a sunny picnic and some good old fashioned kite-flying. Even Meg got in on the action.

More Thanksgiving

Friday we all cruised up to the Wayfarers Chapel, which is a pretty little all-glass chapel close to the ocean. We couldn't go inside due to the couple getting married. They apparently flew in from Japan to use this particular chapel.

Giving Thanks

Final tally: 24 pounds of turkey, 19 people around two tables, 5 delicious pies, and 1 stick of string cheese...and many thanks.

For the Birds

We had a great Thanksgiving week with Grandma Bea and Papa, starting with a trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific. Sorry for all the bird pictures, but I couldn't choose. As you can see, one bird liked earrings.

Wax Museum

Emma's class recently had a living wax museum presentation where each student dressed up as a historical figure from science. They then recited a short speech about the person as people went by.

Projects

OK, I'm still catching up. This is from a couple of weeks ago...project Saturday. Laura made some beautiful curtains for the front room, while Emma and I sanded down Grandpa K's chair (we eventually painted it black).

Signage

Church recently had a women's event where the ladies made some lovely signs to hang up at home.
