Trick or Treat!

We hit the neighborhood for a little Trick or Treat time tonight. We must have overly polite children because several people expressed their appreciation that the kids all said "thank you". That must be less common these days. In case you aren't up on costumes these days, Meg is "Princess Crystal" from a PBS show, Emma is Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series and Jonathan is Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.

Serious Playtime

Here is Meg, having some quality playtime with her princesses.

Highlight Reel

A couple of clips of Jonathan playing flag football. Sorry they are kind of small. Both are touchdowns by J.

Video

I guess we can upload video now. Someone let me know how it works.

Red Sun

As you are undoubtedly aware, we have had a brutal week in Southern California with devastating wildfires throughout the region. Thankfully we have been far from danger in our area, but we have had very smokey air and ash on our cars every morning. I took this picture of the rising sun, shrouded by smoke in the distance to cause the deep red hue.

Lovely Ladies

The GEMS theme of last week was "Daughter's of the King" so all the girls and the counselors dressed up as royalty to celebrate the coronation of the girls into the royal family. They learned what it meant to be a true daughter of the King and the evening ended with the girls laying down their crowns before the King. Of course, Meg wanted to be part of the pic.

Girls, girls, girls

I'm a bit behind as this picture is from last week. Laura's birthday itself wasn't all that exciting but she did get to go out with some girlfriends late in the evening.

Murder and Cake

OK, so murder and cake don't REALLY go together. Last night we went to a murder mystery party which happened to be a Hawaiian luau theme (hence the sweet outfits). Turns out my character (Joey Breakers) was actually the murderer. Of course, I found that out 2 minutes into the game so I had to deflect questions all night long. My lovely wife still figured it out. Today we celebrated Laura and Kathy's birthdays with the always-requested chocolate bundt cake.

Wicked and Football

We attended "Wicked" in Hollywood with our buddies Scott and Judi after a great dinner at a quaint restaurant called "Off Vine". The musical was pretty impressive. I highly recommend it. We attempted to recreate the cover of the program...I'm not sure if we succeeded. On a completely different theme, here is Jonathan's flag football team, posed and in action.
